Floyd Mayweather’s, won for unanimous decision

FloydFloyd Mayweather Jr.,used a brilliant game plan to retain his welterweight and light middleweight titles with a unanimous decision against Marcos Maidana Saturday night in Las Vegas. One judge scored it 115-112, and two judges scored it 116-111 all for Mayweather, who improved to 47-0 with 26 KOs.

Mayweather is guaranteed $32 million for his night’s work. Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs), from Argentina, is guaranteed $3 million for the Showtime pay-per-view battle.

“He’s a helluva competitor. I listened to instruction my father gave me. Hit and don’t get hit, ” said Mayweather.

“I give myself a C or C-minus. I’m better than that. I got hit with some shots tonight I shouldn’t have.”

Mayweather weighed in Friday at 146.5 pounds, a half pound under the 147-pound welterweight limit, while Maidana tipped the scales at an even 146 pounds.

As Mayweather entered the ring just after the national anthem, he was greeted by one of the few people who have more money than he does: Warren Buffett. As the fight begins Maidana swings wildly and misses. Mayweather jabs. Both fighters feeling each other out. Floyd slips and hits the canvas. No knockdown. Mayweather avoiding Maidana. Mayweather connects, and Maidana returns a right.

Mayweather moving around the ring. Maidana connects on a combination. Both fighters still cautious. Mayweather connects in a left hook, then ties Maidana up. Maidana connects with a right, then a left. Then a jab. The fighters tie up. Mayweathr slips a Maidana flurry. Mayweather misses with a straight right. Then connects with a hard right. Maidana attacks the body. I have to give this round to Maidana.
